Ian studied law at Oxford and then went into finance; first as an investment manager at Baillie Gifford, then as a stockbroker at Flemings, then as a strategist and Head of European research at Morgan Stanley and more recently as the co-Founder and CEO of Tristan Capital, a real estate private equity firm.
Ian has served as a Trustee of the King Alfred School charity, has acted as an advisor to the Gaia Foundation, and now guides and mentors people starting up new ventures or businesses in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors.
His involvement in Do Radio happened as a result of his love for all things related to “Do” and the “Do Community”.
Ian is an entrepreneur, an investor and the producer of the Being Well channel.
He hasn’t written a book. He hasn’t got a podcast. He’s not a painter and he hasn’t knitted anything since he was 7.
And the only reason he has an X account is to get David’s posts.
Ian does however love talking with interesting people about wellbeing, hence the Being Well channel.
And he’ll be doing a Do Wales talk in 2027 to share his thoughts about “Learning to Love Yourself”.
In the meantime, he was asked by one of his guests, Evie Manuel, if he would talk about Source, Flow, Drought and Deep himself.
He said yes, so here it is.
