Joe is a strategist at Big Fish marketing agency. He is their expert on all things AI. He has a sharp eye for growth opportunities and clear, effective communication. From developing business models and marketing strategies to refining communication messages, Joe helps maximise potential by identifying potential big wins and translating them into actionable plans.
Passionate about purpose-driven brands and enthusiastic founders, Joe was previously at The DO Lectures, where he was a growth lead and business strategist. There, he honed his copywriting and research skills by producing a weekly newsletter for 70,000 readers. Before that, he worked as a freelance marketer for numerous FMCG start-ups.
On weekends, you’ll find Joe training for his first triathlon in various London parks and pools. He also enjoys experimenting with fermenting in the kitchen, sharpening Japanese cooking knives, and playing guitar.
Joe and Jon covered a lot of ground in their conversation. They talked tech troubleshooting, the Do Lectures community, and how Joseph first got involved. They explored how technology is shaping the way we write, the shifting norms on LinkedIn, and how to stay human in the middle of it all.
Joe shared sharp, practical advice on finding inspiration, writing with clarity, and staying authentic: especially when it comes to reading the room (or the algorithm) on LinkedIn.
They also got into AI. How tools like ChatGPT are changing marketing and branding, what it means for how we think and learn, and whether it’s helping or hindering the creative process.
And just when you thought they’d covered it all, they dipped into self-driving cars and whether machines could ever be conscious. Nice.
