Kate Groch is a South African educator, social entrepreneur and founder of the Good Work Foundation (GWF) — a nonprofit pioneering a new model of learning and work in rural communities across South Africa.

Born and raised in South Africa with a deep love for the natural world, Kate began her professional journey as a teacher of mathematics, science and biology, and spent early years as a private tutor travelling across Africa.

Driven by a belief that every young person, regardless of where they are born, deserves access to rich and meaningful learning, she established the Good Work Foundation in 2006.

Under her leadership, GWF has built multiple Digital Learning Campuses in rural Mpumalanga and the Free State that blend digital fluency, creativity, and real-world skills with community-rooted values such as Ubuntu.

These campuses deliver experiential programmes ranging from literacy and coding to hospitality, conservation and employment readiness, creating an ecosystem that supports learners from primary school through to meaningful work.

Kate holds a B.Sc. in Zoology from the University of Cape Town and a teaching qualification from UNISA. Her work has been recognized internationally, including speaking engagements such as TEDInstitute, and her leadership continues to shape conversations about equitable and future-ready education in Africa and beyond
