Nikki Trott is a brand strategist, founder adviser and the author of Sacred Business, a manifesto for building companies that thrive in harmony with life rather than at its expense. Earlier in her career, she was a director at a fashion strategy agency in her twenties, working with brands including Dior, Calvin Klein and Mulberry between London and New York - by every external measure, a success. It was the discomfort of a daily commute, and the decision to walk two to three hours a day across London instead, that first surfaced a quieter feeling: that the story of success she was living wasn't fully her own.
That realisation led her to close the door on her career, move to Berlin with a single suitcase, and begin what she describes as her second adulthood: a period of surrender, spiritual exploration and rebuilding, out of which came her current work helping founders and CEOs align inner transformation with business strategy. She is the founder of Sacara, a community and events platform for purpose-led leaders, and a founding partner of a regenerative food and agriculture investment fund.
Dan met Nikki at the Realisation Festival at St Giles House, in a conversation he describes as one that felt engineered by serendipity. In conversation with Dan, Nikki explores the idea of "proactive surrender," why success has to be found in the present rather than deferred to some future achievement, and how the hardest part of change is often simply closing the door behind you before you know what's next.
