Richard Williamson

Founder of McKay Williamson | Do Radio Guest, Tomorrow's World with Jon Kaye

Catch Richard on Do Radio: Tomorrow's World with Jon Kaye 27-02 November 2025.

Richard founded McKay Williamson in Notting Hill in 2002, naming it after his two grandfathers, as a quiet tribute to family and legacy. What started as a creative studio soon evolved into something more personal: a gallery built not around trends or taste, but around story.

Originally a collage artist himself, Richard’s approach was never about pushing product. Instead, he listened. When people came in looking for art, he asked about their lives. Their spaces. What they wanted to feel when they looked at something every day.

Over the years, McKay Williamson became known for helping people find art that truly means something. He even developed a kind of visual personality quiz to help people uncover what they’re drawn to, often before they can name it.

Richard isn’t a traditional gallerist. He’s more like a guide, someone who helps you bring meaning into your space, whether your budget’s modest or massive. For him, it’s not about what looks good. It’s about what feels right.
