Investor, advisor, and business leader Rob Pierre co-founded the digital marketing firm Jellyfish in 2005, growing it as CEO to over 2200 employees across 38 global offices with clients like Google and Netflix. He scaled Jellyfish from a startup to a global powerhouse headquartered in London, valued in the hundreds of millions, before its acquisition by The Brandtech Group in June 2023.
Committed to societal impact, Rob co-owns the Inside Out Project (a clothing brand by young ex-offenders) and co-founded Impact X (a VC firm for underrepresented European entrepreneurs). He also co-founded technology company Infinity, advises and invests at ufurnish.com (http://ufurnish.com), and owns Mber, a London bar and restaurant.
This conversation went everywhere: from Jellyfish, the company he founded, to driverless cars, AI, performance psychology, and what it really means to empower people. Rob’s journey since stepping back from Jellyfish has been anything but quiet. He’s now pouring his energy into social mobility and community-focused work, especially through Inside Out, a project that helps ex-offenders build new lives through job opportunities in the fashion industry. It’s not charity, it’s long-term, sustainable change. And it works.
We talked about the evolving role of radio, how media can build real communities (not just audiences), and why any business worth building should also be thinking about impact. Rob’s point was simple: giving people skills, dignity, and options is more powerful than any algorithm.
Of course, we also wandered into tech: driverless cars, how data shapes behavior, and the kind of future we’re building whether we mean to or not. There were moments of levity too: music preferences, why reading can feel like work, and the lifelong struggle with procrastination.
One takeaway that stuck with me: Rob said indecision can be more damaging than making the wrong choice. And he’s right. You can course-correct. You can recover. But you can’t build momentum without movement.
