Why “I am not creative” show

Written by Fateme BanishoebDO Radio

Why this name?

Because I’ve heard it too many times: “I’m not creative.”

And every time I hear it, I know it isn’t true.

This show exists to stop people believing that lie.

Creativity is not the private property of artists, designers, or innovators. It is not talent. It is not a profession. Creativity is who we are. It’s how we think, how we notice, how we live. It is present in the way you solve a problem, tell a story, cook a meal, or dream up a future that doesn’t exist yet.

Most of us have been taught to shrink it. To measure it. To doubt it.

This show is about unlearning that.

Each episode explores a different angle of creativity: from breaking free of boxes, to wandering off the map, to playing with imagination as if it were our most human resource.

On this journey several presenters have joined to bring their own curiosity, courage, and contradictions. I have been blessed by the generosity of Nathalie Nahai, Tracey Yokas, Bristol Baughan, Rachel Barnard and Shioban Sheridan; who have each looked at creativity from a different lens: aliveness, mental health, everyday expressions…

Every show begins with a simple question:

“What is creativity to you?”

It’s a doorway into stories, confessions, and surprises because creativity becomes alive when it gets personal.

Why does this matter to me?

Because I’ve spent years straddling worlds: corporate boardrooms and poetic wilderness, science and imagination, discipline and freedom. And what I’ve seen, again and again, is that creativity is the bridge. The one force that lets us cross over, reimagine, and re-shape.

I Am Not Creative is my way of holding a microphone to that truth.
