Emma Slade has lived several lives.
She studied at Cambridge. Worked in the high-stakes world of international finance, then, after a life changing experience began exploring yoga, meditation and the workings of the human mind.
Today, Emma is a yoga and meditation teacher, speaker and the author of Set Free, the story of her journey from financial success to spiritual freedom.
She is founder of Opening Your Heart to Bhutan, a UK charity providing education, medicine and shelter for children facing some of the greatest challenges in Bhutan and in 2022, she became the first Western woman to be fully ordained as a Buddhist nun in Bhutan.
Joining me today on the channel is Emma Slade. Emma runs a charity, she’s a yoga and meditation teacher, she’s a writer…and she’s the first Western woman to be fully ordained as a Buddhist Nun in Bhutan.
Emma has now lived under Buddhist vows for nearly 15 years, which is quite a journey for a kid from Whitstable in Kent.
Emma journeyed from Cambridge University, to Goldsmiths, to travelling around America, Greece, Costa Rica, Australia, Hawaii……to yoga, to the high stakes world of emerging market bonds in South East Asia… …a life-changing experience in Jakarta……to being a Mum… to meditation……and to Bhutan…..to the Buddhist faith.
A veritable spiritual Journey from West to East….from Emma Slade to Lopen Ani Pema Deki, an ordained Buddhist Nun. And to the founding of a charity to help kids in Bhutan called “Opening Your Heart To Bhutan”. She has written about her journey in her book “Set Free”, and today you get the chance to listen to her talking about her journey in person.
