Emyr co‑founded Afanti Media (known back then as Avanti) in 1995 alongside his wife, Mair. Over nearly 30 years, he’s steered it into one of Wales’s most respected independent TV producers.
He’s not just a producer, but a storyteller: the brain behind shows like Songs of Praise, The Perfect Pitch, Life Drawing Live! and the BBC special Luke Evans: Showtime!, two of which earned Baftas for Best Entertainment. His work also helped launch household names like Steve, Alex and Gethin Jones and even made The Pop Factory both a TV show and a cultural landmark.
In June 2024, he was awarded an OBE for services to media and music. Beyond TV, he’s a musician himself (a former recording artist and classically trained tenor) and now chairs the Welsh Music Guild’s executive board.
