Jackie Morris is an artist and author who lives in a cottage on the cliffs of Pembrokeshire, Wales.

She has written and illustrated over forty books — among them The Snow Leopard, Tell Me a Dragon, and East of the Sun, West of the Moon — but it was her collaboration with Robert Macfarlane that brought her work to the widest audience.

The Lost Words, published in 2017, won the Kate Greenaway Medal and was voted the most beautiful book of the year by UK booksellers.

Their new book, The Book of Birds, follows in the same spirit: watercolour and word, beauty and urgency, in service of the natural world.

She was told at school she shouldn't draw, and at college she'd never make it as an illustrator.

She has spent her life proving both wrong.
