John Elkington is the founder and Chief Pollinator at Volans, the future-focused sustainability consultancy working at the intersection of business, innovation and systemic change.
Widely recognised as one of the founders of the global sustainability movement, John has spent decades challenging companies to rethink their role in society and move beyond short-term profit towards more responsible, regenerative forms of capitalism.
He is the co-founder of several influential organisations, including Environmental Data Services, SustainAbility and Volans, and is the author or co-author of more than twenty books. He is perhaps best known for originating the “triple bottom line” concept (people, planet and profit) which helped reshape the way businesses think about value, responsibility and impact.
More recently, John’s work has focused on “Green Swans”: breakthrough solutions capable of creating exponential progress for people, planet and the economy.
For Tomorrow’s World, John brings a long view of business, sustainability and change, from the early days of corporate responsibility to the urgent question of what kind of capitalism can meet the challenges ahead.
