Julian Treasure

Speaker, Author and Communication Expert, | Do Radio Guest, Tomorrow's Word with Jon Kaye

Catch Julian Treasure on Do Radio: Tomorrow's Word with Jon Kaye 18th - 24th May 2026.

Julian Treasure is one of the world’s leading voices on listening, speaking and the power of sound.

A five-time TED speaker, author and communication expert, Julian has spent more than two decades helping people and organisations understand how sound shapes the way we feel, think, work and connect. His TED talks have been viewed more than 160 million times, with How to Speak So That People Want to Listen becoming one of the most-watched TED talks of all time.

His work sits in a deceptively simple place: how we listen, how we speak, and what happens when we stop paying attention to either. He is the author of How to be Heard, Sound Business and Sound Affects, and his central argument is that conscious listening is not a soft skill or a nice extra, but one of the basic human abilities that shapes trust, relationships, leadership and the quality of our lives.

In this episode of Tomorrow’s World, Jon talks to Julian about listening in the digital age, why our attention has become so fractured, what technology is doing to the way we communicate, and whether AI can ever really understand what it means to hear another human being.

A conversation about sound, technology and attention, but really, a conversation about how we stay human in a louder world.
