Marco Poletto is an architect, biodesigner, and co-founder of EcologicStudio whose work sits at the frontier between nature, technology, and imagination.
Rather than describing himself as a conventional architect, Marco works between disciplines - blending biology, digital fabrication, artificial intelligence, and craft. His studio grows living systems, collaborates with slime mould and mycelial networks, and develops bio-based materials that challenge our assumptions about what buildings, cities, and even authorship might be.
In conversation, Marco reflects on the “biological revolution” he believes is quietly underway, a shift from the machine age toward systems that are adaptive, regenerative, and profoundly interconnected. It’s a hopeful vision, grounded not in grand gestures of control, but in small acts of connection that ripple outward.
This conversation with Mike was recorded in Marco’s studio in Hackney Wick, London - surrounded by 3D-printed biopolymers, living cultures, and experimental prototypes.
