Ziyad Marar is an author, publisher and President of Global Publishing at SAGE, where he has spent more than three decades working across academic and social science publishing.
Since joining SAGE in 1989, Ziyad has helped shape one of the world’s leading independent academic publishers, with a particular focus on psychology, politics, social science and the wider role that research plays in public life.
Alongside his publishing career, Ziyad is the author of several books exploring psychology, philosophy and the hidden forces that shape human behaviour. His books include The Happiness Paradox, Deception, Intimacy, Judged: The Value of Being Misunderstood, and Noticing: How We Attend to the World and Each Other.
His work often returns to the same territory: how we understand ourselves, how we see other people, how judgement works, and why attention, connection and social science matter in a complicated world.
For Tomorrow’s World, Ziyad brings the perspective of someone who has spent his career between ideas and institutions — publishing serious research, defending the value of social science, and asking what it means to pay attention to each other in an age of noise.
