What if it didn’t have to sound polished, segmented, time-boxed, or optimised for attention spans?
What if a “show” could be a question whispered into the dark, a fragment of conversation that never ties itself up neatly, a silence that lingers longer than we expect?
When I first experimented with “I’m Not Creative”, I wasn’t trying to fit into format.
The first episode wasn’t really ready for traditional radio but it carried too much truth, too much raw wisdom, to be abandoned. And, I drove the Radio’s crew crazy because I did’t want to let it go. So after endless edits and production it was broadcast!
Later, on another episode, the experiment took the shape of bird song. The forest as co-host.
Nature weaving in and out of the conversation, reminding us that creativity doesn’t always need words.
And if we can listen differently to a voice, a pause, a rustle of leaves then maybe “radio” can hold more than we think.
What if we let shows break?
Break their own rhythm.
Break out of expectation.
Break open the boundaries of what counts as valuable.
Because sometimes, the pieces that don’t “fit” are the ones carrying the pulse of something new.
Do Radio was never meant to follow a script.
It was meant to play, to stretch, to let the edges wobble.
So, here’s the question we want to hand back to you:
A conversation with silence?
Soundscapes of daily life?
Fragments of poetry?
Laughter spilling over the edge?
Something else we haven’t imagined yet?
Tell us. Because maybe the future of radio isn’t just what we produce but what we create together.
Do Radio: For the ones who dare to break the frame. For the ones who know that rules are only ever an invitation to play.
