Paul Sinton Hewitt

Founder of Park Run

"Drive forward, be brave, be proud, and then hopefully be successful."

Most people find it hard enough to get themselves out running, let alone trying to get 4 million people to join them. But that’s exactly what Paul and his partners did when they created Park Run, a free to attend 5k run, jog or walk that aims to get people up and moving every Saturday morning.

Paul started the event whilst unemployed and unable to run due to an injured leg. And since its conception, Park Run has grown to an international family of over 3 million runners and counting.

He was appointed a CBE "for services to Grassroots Sport Participation" in 2014. In December 2019, he was awarded the Albert Medal (Royal Society of Arts) for building a global participation movement and made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
