Sue is a veteran C-suite executive, mother and widow, who’s rewriting the story of loss and vibrant living. Sue spent over 30 great years working in corporate America, primarily as a defense contractor. She found the mission-driven element of helping soldiers, sailors and airmen be well supported both motivating and rewarding. Nearly 10 years ago her healthy, happy 50-year-old husband Mike died suddenly. Sue learned – through much trial and much error – that loss changes us profoundly. But contrary to society’s expectations, it makes us bigger, not smaller.
In early 2025 Sue made a personal mission-driven career switch to writing. Every week she writes a newsletter called “The Luminist” where she brings loss in all its forms out of the shadows, shining a light on the parts of the human experience we avoid at all costs, but are our greatest teachers for living a rich, deep, expansive life.
Her new book - Do Loss - comes out in March 2026. Do Loss unpacks the myths about loss that hold us back, the truths that set us free, and explains how we can learn from loss in order to live a better life.
