Gareth is an architect and mental health advocate whose focus on mental well-being began when he started recording his general mood each day in colour. This simple practice allowed him to become more self-aware and better manage his mental well-being. To help others do the same, he created Mood—an app that lets users ‘See how you feel’ with just one click a day. That led to his companion podcast, How Do You Feel Today?, where he invites guests to share honest conversations about their feelings.
Alongside this work, Gareth is a practising architect specialising in domestic architecture and the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. He works from a self-built experimental garden office, which evolved into low-energy housing schemes for the Welsh Government’s Innovative Housing Programme. While he works across all stages of the architectural process, Gareth is currently focusing on the pre-architecture stage with Before Architecture. There, he helps clients gain the clarity and confidence to decide how (or if) they move forward with the projects they’re considering.
Whether in mental well-being, architecture or the overlap between the two, Gareth is guided by a commitment to thoughtful design and practical solutions that empower people to support themselves.
