Peter John Farrelly is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and novelist.
Farrelly graduated from Columbia with a master’s in fine arts and moved to Los Angeles soon after, where he began writing screenplays. Not long after his arrival in the City of Angels, Farrelly landed a development deal with writing partner, Bennett Yellin, and later was joined by brother Bobby. The two – who collectively became known as the Farrelly Brothers.
The brothers are best known for directing and producing quirky comedy and romantic comedy films such as Dumb and Dumber; Shallow Hal; Me, Myself and Irene and There's Something About Mary.
In 2018, Peter co-wrote and directed the comedy-drama Green Book, which won the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival 2018. He also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
