Anastasia Somoza

Human Rights Activist

"There wasn't anything that I wanted to do, or dreamed of doing, that my family said no to."

Anastasia is an international disability rights advocate and a powerful voice for human rights globally.

While most kids were practising their curveball and riding bikes, she was appealing to President Clinton on live TV. Her sister Alba, like Anastasia, was born with cerebral palsy and she was being denied the right to an equal education. Anastasia fought (and won) for Alba not to be relegated to special education classes. She was nine and the fire for activism and justice was lit.

Years later she faced her own challenge to access education. Through a truly inspiring use of crowdfunding campaigns, she raised the funds to ensure a successful education.
