Anna Koska

Food Illustrator

“My best planning and execution in my head of ideas happen when I am wearing a cloak of sweat and am sifting mud through my socks.”

Anna is a published freelance food illustrator of some 25 years, and to date has illustrated more than 100 books. As well as book illustration, she regularly receives commissions from chefs, authors, and restauranteurs for food and botanical art.

She was initially discouraged from taking art beyond the school classroom but felt compelled to return to it some years later by her Grandfathers words. He told her, “If you have a talent, it is your duty to polish it every day.” As such she is entirely self-taught.

She lives in East Sussex, with her husband and three children. Along with her illustration business, she grows an overly ambitious quantity of veg, cares for three hives, two pigs, and chickens; runs, cycles and is rather fervent in her efforts to supply the family with homemade ‘everything’.
