Change, Growth, and Resilience

Giles Duley
Photographer, Writer and Storyteller
"You do not make yourself more resilient, resilience is natures gift for suffering. Resilience is something that is bestowed on you by life. You do not make yourself more resilient, resilience is the outcome of the experience."

After losing both legs and his left arm in Afghanistan in 2011, war photographer and writer, Giles Duley, told his doctors “I’m still a photographer”. He returned to work in Afghanistan less than 18 months later.

In this moving talk, he shares how his experience, and the stories of those he has documented, have taught him that our darkest times can bear the greatest rewards. That whilst we often avoid change, it is change itself that enables us to grow.
