Robert Poynton | Why We All Need To Pause Right Now
We are all in a pause now.
How do we make sense of that and how do we make the most of it?
How can we use this time constructively and creatively, to set new priorities or ask new questions?
How are we responding and how else might we respond?
Rob shares what he learned in writing his book ‘DO Pause’ to turn the situation of being in lockdown during Covid-19 to our advantage.
Rob designs and facilitates workshops and retreats, often focused on leadership or creativity.
He uses ideas from improv theatre to help people (and organisations) respond creatively to complexity and change.
He believes in playing around with things (and people) rather than trying to control them.
He thinks we can learn from and even enjoy uncertainty, rather than dread it.
He spoke at the DO Lectures in 2011 and is the author of: ‘DO Pause’ and ‘DO Improvise’.
He has also been a contributor to The Skoll World Forum, Singularity University Global Summit and Schumacher College.
He divides his time between Oxford, where he is an Associate Fellow at the Saïd Business School, and an off grid house in rural Spain from where he runs ‘The Pause Project’ (www.pauseproject.space) and looks after the hens.
He is spending his time in ‘isolation’ during Covid-19 with his wife and three sons in Oxford, from where he delivered the first DO Live Lecture. From the front room.
